“City of Refuge” is a photography series that portrays a continuous search for a place of home in open spaces, a place that serves as a refuge, a personal sanctuary.
I go out almost every day to the fields surrounding my home, planning my photographs for days, weeks, and even months. I wander around my subjects and shooting locations for long periods, imagining them and refining my goals until the moment I go out to capture them. In these spaces, I find a connection to the earth, to memories, and to the essence of home.
The series doesn’t merely focus on the beauty of the outdoors or home but also explores the less perfect aspects—decay, disintegration, and conflict. It’s a journey through fragmented landscapes and the desire to find a sense of belonging, between the familiar places and their points of fragility, in an attempt to discover myself and find a place where I can rest and feel at home, despite the challenges.
