“The Body Keeps the Score” explores the experience of chronic pain through the metaphor of the landscape. Using natural textures, flowing lines, and layered imagery, the work reflects the constant presence of pain within the body, without directly depicting the body itself. Just as the land holds the memory of every shift and disturbance, so too does the body bear the marks of ongoing trauma and physical suffering.
This series contemplates the silent dialogue between the inner and outer worlds. The patterns of the landscape mirror the rhythms of pain—the undulations of tension and relief, the way pain moves through the body like wind through a field. Though the body is not visible in the images, its presence is felt.
As the work progresses, the question arises whether to incorporate direct imagery of the body. If included, the body would merge with the landscape, illustrating the continuous process of integrating life with chronic pain and learning to exist within the body despite its limitations.
