This series was created following the death of my mother in 2022 and the family crisis that accompanied it. It focuses on the complex intersection of childhood memories related to food and experiences of loss and anger.
The photographs, taken at night in deserted streets, evoke the atmosphere of a crime scene – moments frozen in time, laden with the pain of what cannot be restored. Each image carries echoes of everyday moments: guavas my mother loved, sour cream that became a staple in her final years, and wet matzah with avocado that my father used to eat.
The series explores the tension between simple daily memories and the heavy emotions of loss and anger, where the pain arises not only from the separation itself but also from the inevitable transformation of these memories – from a source of comfort and security to a place where sharp pain emerges.
